12 month contract hybrid position for industrial placement students.

Application closing date: 24th December 2025

About the Role

At Griffiths Waite (GW), we design and build innovative digital solutions for enterprise clients, combining strong engineering principles, modern technologies and a culture of learning. Our placements offer the opportunity to work alongside experienced platform and software engineers while developing real-world skills in cloud infrastructure, automation and deployment.

You'll be part of a collaborative agile team, helping to design, build and maintain the platforms that power our digital products. You'll gain hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, Linux environments and infrastructure-as-code practices, while learning how to automate builds, deployments and monitoring.

While the focus of this placement is on DevOps and Platform Engineering, we also welcome applicants with an interest or developing skills in data science, artificial intelligence or intelligent automation, as these areas are increasingly shaping how we deliver and operate our solutions.

We're looking for curious, motivated individuals with a natural flair for infrastructure and cloud engineering, who enjoy solving complex problems and working with modern DevOps tooling. Experience or interest in containers (such as Docker or Kubernetes) and observability tools would be a great bonus.

What You'll Get From Us

  • A structured onboarding and training programme, including an 8 to 12 week engineering boot camp
  • Mentoring and one-to-one guidance from experienced Platform and DevOps engineers
  • The chance to work on challenging, high-impact client projects
  • Exposure to modern DevOps practices including CI/CD, automation and cloud-native development
  • A friendly, inclusive culture built around our values: Brilliance, Trust, Collaboration and Ownership

By the end of the placement, you'll have developed practical experience in building and supporting production environments, gained a strong understanding of DevOps principles and explored how emerging technologies such as AI and data-driven automation are transforming modern engineering.

What We're Looking For

Do you have:

  • A natural curiosity for how systems work and how to make them faster, more reliable and secure
  • A strong team-working ethic with excellent self-motivation
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A passion for technology and an eagerness to learn from experienced engineers

A Flair For One or More of the Following

  • Infrastructure and cloud engineering: Experience or interest in Linux, networking, or cloud platforms such as Azure
  • Automation and DevOps practices: Scripting, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure as code
  • Containers and observability: Working with Docker or Kubernetes, and monitoring or logging tools
  • Data and AI: An understanding or curiosity for data-driven systems, machine learning, or intelligent automation

We're looking for individuals who enjoy solving real-world problems, want to develop hands-on technical skills and are excited to explore how DevOps, data and AI come together to power modern digital solutions.
